I first opened the doors to Yoga students in Tasmania in  February 2003 .  Prior to that my journey began with Iyengar Yoga  in Sydney in 1987 , then in 1991 I trained as an Oki Yoga teacher  (Ryoho Yoga). In 1993,  whilst teaching, I was drawn to learning Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga , with Eileen Hall of Yoga Moves, with Graeme and Leonie Northfield of Queensland and with Sri K Pattabhi Jois of Mysore India.  The late Pattabhi was the guru who was responsible for consolidating the teachings of this practice and making it accessible to the rest of the world .  My training in Ashtanga yoga was extensive, doing classes 6 mornings a week for many years, taking me up to the 3rd series before being eligible to teach Ashtanga.  I draw from my background and training first as a Shiatsu massage therapist and now as a psychotherapist to facilitate the individual experiences of all who attend yoga classes at The Yoga Point . Today we have regular beginners courses, and classes for different  levels.  We also offer Yoga therapy, Private  lessons,  Restorative Hatha Yoga, Strength in Yoga and  Psychotherapy  through Yoga.

Throughout the year we run workshops, weekend intensives and retreats. I look forward to seeing you on the sticky mat.

Graeme & Leonie Northfield

Graeme and Leonie have been teaching yoga workshops

at The Yoga Point for last 6 years and have inspired

our yoga students.

For many years Graeme was a student of the late

Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Through hard work and dedication

Graeme is one of the most advanced Yogi’s that has

learnt at Pattabhi Jois’s institute.

Graeme and Leonie have been conducting

yoga workshops throughout Europe ,Asia and

Israel. They bring their knowledge and understanding

of how to use muscles safely and more intelligently to

sustain an Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Practice. They have

helped us to understand and apply it’s ancient techniques

such as the use of bandhas for core strength; making the

process tangible.
